Unpause or Restart Sequence
title: Unpause or Restart Sequence
description: Pause a running sequence or restart it later.
Overview
You can pause a running sequence at any time and restart it later. Pausing immediately stops all pending emails, while restarting re-schedules them for leads that have not yet completed the sequence.
Pause a sequence
- Go to Outreach → Sequences.
- Find the sequence you want to pause.
- Click the three-dot menu on the right side of the sequence row.
- Select Pause.
The sequence status changes to Paused and all pending emails are removed from the sending queue.
Note: If your sequence was auto-paused due to high bounces, the status shows Paused due to bounces. You must fix the underlying sender health issue before restarting.
Unpause or restart a sequence
SalesBlink does not provide a direct Unpause button in the sequence list. To restart a paused sequence, you must launch it again from the sequence editor.
- Go to Outreach → Sequences.
- Find the paused sequence you want to restart.
- Click the three-dot menu and select Edit.
- Review your sequence settings to make sure everything is correct.
- Click Launch Sequence (or Schedule for Launch if you want to set a future start time).
The sequence status changes back to Running and emails are re-scheduled for leads that have not completed the sequence.
Tip: If you only want to edit the sequence without restarting it, click Save as Paused. This keeps the sequence in a paused state while saving your changes.
Restart an archived sequence
Archiving a sequence automatically pauses it. To restart an archived sequence:
- Go to Outreach → Sequences.
- Select Archived tabs to view archived sequences.
- Find the sequence and click the three-dot menu.
- Select Edit.
- Click Launch Sequence (or Schedule for Launch).
What happens to leads when you restart
When you restart a paused sequence:
- Leads that have already completed the sequence are not affected.
- Leads that were in the middle of the sequence start from the same spot only.
- New leads added to the source list after the restart are included in the sequence.
- Same emails from the same step will never be sent again.
Tip: If you want leads to resume from start instead of restarting from the beginning, consider cloning the sequence and launching it as a new sequence.
Frequently asked questions
Can I unpause a sequence without opening the editor?
No. You must open the sequence editor and click Launch Sequence to restart a paused sequence.
Will restarting a sequence resend emails to leads who already received them?
No. Leads who have already completed the sequence are skipped. Only leads who have not finished all steps are re-enrolled.
What happens to scheduled emails when I pause?
All pending emails are deleted from the sending queue. They are not stored or held. When you restart, the sequence re-calculates and re-schedules the next steps based on the current sequence configuration.
Why was my sequence auto-paused?
Sequences are might be auto-paused when the bounce rate exceeds your configured bounce threshold, or when all connected email senders are disabled due to errors. Check your Email Senders health status and resolve any issues before restarting.
